Winnington Park Cricket Club
provides personal and professional development training for all ages
Winnington Park Cricket Club (WPCC) was established in 1891, as a sports section of what eventually became ICI. WPCC played at the premises of Winnington Park Recreation Club (WPRC). In 1991 ICI sold the recreation club, which became Winnington Park Recreation Club PLC in 1994. WPCC Continued to play games at WPRC, throughout this time developing and managing cricket facilities.
In 2022 WPRCC merged with Hartford Cricket Club (HCC), and played the WPCC 3rd XI games, at the cricket ground in Hartford, a local village close to Northwich. HCC had a 30 year lease, which is due to expire in 2029, leased from Hartford Parish Council (HPC). Hartford Cricket Club is no longer active. Games at the Hartford ground is now under the name of WPCC. All assets were informally transferred to WPCC. The ground in Hartford consists of a cricket ground, a cricket pavilion, and storage facilities, but the ground is effectively a public park (owned by HPC)
In March 2025 WPRC was about to go into Administration, but ownership was passed to a new director, with the final 3 directors standing down.
Winnington Park Cricket Club is thriving with 2 grounds, 3 senior team and a large junior set up from Under 7’s to Under 13’s.
We have applied to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
